Thanks a lot for this great review! |
MARTIN MOTNIK Bass Invader Oops, this guy can play! Munich-based bassist Martin Motnik took Über-drummer Gregg Bissonette into the studio to record a fulminant solo album. The first track "Bee on speed" already takes off like a rocket - Gregg plays a fast double bass beat like at David Lee Roth's best times when he was playing on David's legendary album "Eat 'En And Smile", together with Steve Vai and Billy Sheehan. Motnik is not only able to play faster than the speed of light, which he proves on his lyrical solo piece "Delayed" - appropriately played with a Delay FX. The basses he uses are two Roya 5 string (fretted and fretless) by Jens Ritter, an acoustic Ibanez AEB 10 and an Esh 6 string. "Bass Invader" presents a sweeping blow on all possibilieties of playing bass: Motnik masters them all, no matter if slow, fast, tapped or beating with the thumb. Another guest on the CD is guitarist Mattias IA Eklundh, who appears on two Songs. (Info: www.martinmotnik.com) RK |
